The Full Moon in Pisces (also termed a Super Moon this month due to its closer proximity to the Earth in its orbit) will occur on Saturday, August 29th at 18:35 UTC. There are several current planetary factors this lunar cycle that are contributing to major emotional tension and are encouraging a need to seriously check ourselves in regards to conflicts between the conscious and subconscious mind. It’s HIGH time to get real about your goals, what you’re striving for, the strategy you’ll use to get there and how to utilize your emotional nature in an intelligent, effective way instead of letting it get in the way of your efforts to forge ahead.
Not only is the moon in the zodiac water sign of Pisces, which rules the depths of the ocean, fantasy and creativity, but the moon is directly conjunct (next to) Neptune, meaning the effects of the Piscean nature of the moon are seriously amplified. A.K.A.: EMOTIONAL OVERLOAD. Neptune is the natural ruling planet of Pisces in the zodiac wheel and anybody who knows a person with true Pisces influence will note that they don’t typically have both feet on the ground. Pisces are known for being visionaries; artistic souls with immense depth and a tremendous ability for creative expression. They also tend to escape into their fantasies when they’re frustrated and may have the propensity to fall into a self-sabotaging pattern of deluding themselves as a form of self-soothing rather than face reality.

The Moon in Pisces is also directly opposite the Sun in Virgo tomorrow. Oppositions always create some sort of tension and a need for balance. The Moon represents our emotions/feminine receptive energy and the Sun represents our Ego, our masculine, authoritative JUST DO IT energy. Virgo rules order, organization, structure, purity and health. Combine the Sun and Virgo and you’ve got the energy and skills to bring an idea to completion, as long as you don’t get stuck in the details and try to make it perfect. (Virgos are NOTORIOUS for being perfectionists!) Compared to the energy of Pisces, Virgo is a much more grounded earth sign in the zodiac and brings to the table what Pisces may be lacking in order to bring those grand fantasies to life here on Planet Earth. Having big dreams and goals is grand IF you have the organization, authority and discipline to complete the puzzle. Both ends of the spectrum are necessary to reach the equilibrium of both personal and professional achievements. What’s most important to note about this Moon-Sun opposition is that your emotions getting the best of you or mentally traveling to La-La land to AVOID facing your emotions could stand in the way of you bringing important matters to completion. Again, this emotional reality check is coming at you full force and at this point any attempts to delude yourself are going to blow up in your pretty little face. It’s time to get Real…Real Quick.
On a fun note, at this time Venus and Mars are also directly conjunct, or next to one another, in the uber-masculine sign of Leo. Venus rules sensuality and Mars rules raw sexuality, so guess what? Hellooooooooooooooooooo, HOT STUFF! You may be feeling more assertive with your sexual energy or on the hunt for love, but in a more raw, primal way. The energy of these two planets are made for one another, because the feminine Venus softens the rough energy of Mars and they are perfect compliments when it comes to love. It’s the ultimate blend of pure feminine and masculine energy. This transit is often a sign of physical passion of well, because Mars is the fiery planet, ruled by Aries and signals how we take action. Under this influence, a sexual relationship can be EXTREMELY satisfying to both partners. It’s also a time when people may be so hungry they hop into the sack which whomever, so if you’re sensitive, beware of getting your heart broken. If you do get involved with someone, it might just be a fling. If you’re in a committed relationship, take advantage of this energy and get your freak on. It’ll feel pretty effortless, especially with both planets in the fire sign of Leo. Turn it up!
On a more serious note, the theme of self-delusion is ever present for this full moon and La Luna in all its emotional intensity is calling for a bit of a life review. We’ve still got 4 planets in retrograde (Venus, Neptune, Uranus and Pluto), which simply means you’re still in a period of reflection, of re-evaluation and of correcting anything that hasn’t served you in the past so you can do it better this time around. The moon is also opposite Jupiter in the sky, so it’s a good time to think about how or what you wish to expand in your life and what you need to do to make it happen. This full moon will be a wonderful opportunity to reflect on your own personal spiritual values, your aspirations and your Inner versus your Outer self. Who are you really? Who are you in private? What face do you show to the outside world? And how can you fearlessly merge the two to become an even more powerfully authentic human being – both in your own life and in your interactions with others. Each lunar cycle gives us a chance to start fresh; set new intentions and choose what we desire to manifest into reality. Emotional intelligence and a willingness to be vulnerable, viewing vulnerability as an indicator of real strength and courage, will take you far at this time.
