Astrology Series: Video 2 - What's the meaning behind your Sun sign + Rising sign...and ALL YOUR
Happy Friday, Modern Mystics!
In the 2nd video of my free Astrology Series, we're discussing the meaning of your Sun sign and your Rising (Ascendant) sign.
Our Sun sign is our Ego, our identity and the overall essence of who we are. Our Rising (Ascendant) sign is how we EXPRESS our essence to the outside world and the filter through which we experience life. We're a combo of both, although sometimes we identify more strongly with one or the other. Your Sun sign is determined by your month and day of birth. Your Rising (Ascendant) sign is determined by your EXACT TIME of birth.
Here is a chart of the Sun signs, symbols that they're represented by on our natal chart + dates:, as well as the zodiac wheel:

Once you've watched the video, here's a fun exercise to do below about your Ex-Boyfriends or Ex-Girlfriends. A lot of the time we're attracted to a person with the same Sun sign, same Ascendant, signs in the same element or someone that's basically our direct opposite (like the old saying says, opposites attract, right? It's true!).
FIRE SIGNS: Aries, Leo, Sagittarius
EARTH SIGNS: Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn
AIR SIGNS: Gemini, Libra, Aquarius
WATER SIGNS: Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces

It's also common to attract elements that are complimentary to one another. Fire and Air work well together (add air to fire and it gets BIGGER) and Earth absorbs Water, so they help balance one another out.
We attract our opposites to balance out the polarity between our signs. This is very common! One of my exes was actually born June 20th and I am born December 20th. We were DIRECT polar opposites! We also helped each other balance out the polarity between the axis of Gemini and Sagittarius. I grew tremendously from that relationship.
Now, none of this is written in stone! But it's interesting to see patterns and how they emerge, especially in our relationships. We are always seeking to balance out what we're lacking or what need to strengthen through mirroring others. And we need to attract the right combination to learn our unique soul lessons. Learning about relationships through astrology is an amazing tool to deeply understand ourselves AND our capacity with another.
Til next time,
